An expressive foundation soil report demands detailed knowledge of the structure and characteristics of the subsoil as well as the groundwater condition. The most important methods of investigating any building ground subsoil are drilling, prospecting and cone penetration. The resulting findings serve as a basis for planning the subsequent construction project. Drilling is performed whenever conventional methods, such as exploratory pits or excavator prospecting cannot achieve the necessary depth, or confined conditions prevent the use of excavators.

For exploration boreholes pursuant to DIN EN ISO 22475-1, we employ drilling diameters of 50 to 219 millimetres, depending on requirements.

GTC offers the following drilling techniques, which it performs professionally and flexibly for your requirements:

  • Cased dry drilling
  • Drilling with hollow stem augers
  • Flush drilling
  • In-hole hammer drilling
  • Core drilling

Soil samples of quality classes 1 to 5 can be obtained, depending on the method employed.

The soil excavated by the drilling is classified and sampled and all information obtained recorded in a soil stratification catalogue pursuant to DIN EN ISO 14688-1 and 14689-1.
